About me...

My enjoyment for Photography all started with a Kodak 110 Cartridge camera that I probably ‘acquired’ from my mother.

Some years later I received a 35mm ‘Point and Shoot’ fixed focus camera for a Birthday or Christmas. This camera was the first time I remember ‘going out’ on my own, on my mountain bike to take shots. There was a real excitement in waiting for your prints to come back from the Chemist after you had dropped the 35mm film in.

This was my first insight into taking a photograph as trying to get the best from this camera was remembering to change the ISO setting and really focusing on what you want to see in the final image.

A few more years passed before I purchased my first 35mm SLR. It was a Pentax ME Super. I loved this camera, as it was my first ‘real’ SLR camera. I remember studying all of the controls and options until I was happy with most situations. I took it lovingly to Portugal with my mother, only to have it stolen from our hire car during a visit to a Portuguese Market place! Loved that camera.

The story didn’t end there though...around 1996, I enrolled on a Photography course at our local college, and the best camera for the job? Yep, I found another Pentax ME Super from a Second Hand camera shop in Bristol!

I went onto pass my final exams, proudly exhibit a picture and achieved a City & Guilds Level 3 Certificate in Colour Photography and Black & White Photography.

Fast forward a fair few years and my everyday camera became a Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ3 digital compact camera.

Then at the age of 36, I rediscovered my enjoyment again in Photography. So much so, that I saved and owned my first DSLR! A beautiful Black Canon 1100D.
